Students in the Siuslaw Region face real challenges that can make staying connected to school difficult. Housing shortages, seasonal work, rising rents, and sudden crises can quickly disrupt a family’s stability. Our work focuses on restoring safety, stability, and a sense of belonging so students can remain engaged in school and supported by their community.
We are in this together.

Students don’t stop needing school when life gets hard. When housing instability or crisis disrupts daily life, we help reduce the immediate stress so students can stay grounded in school and routine.
Our approach is flexible and shaped by what students and families say they need most in the moment.

Lasting stability is built with community. Volunteers, board members, and people with lived experience help shape shared solutions that support students in the Siuslaw Region. We are looking for people who want to show up, listen, and help guide our work together.

Students in the Siuslaw Region are part of our shared community. They are our neighbors’ kids, our classmates, and the young people growing up alongside us.
When families here face housing instability or sudden financial stress, students feel it immediately. School becomes harder. Stability slips. And too often, the systems meant to help cannot move fast enough to meet the moment.
Our students cannot wait.
Safe Shelter for Siuslaw Students exists so someone is ready when that happens. With flexible, unrestricted community support, we can respond quickly and with care — helping families stabilize, preventing homelessness, and keeping students connected to school and the routines that help them feel safe.
This fund is always open because the needs of our community do not follow a schedule.
